Back in 1997 KROMI started developing and marketing logistics concepts that covered not only traditional retailing but also included a simplification of the entire ordering process. 2000 saw the introduction of the first KROMI Tool Center (KTC), an automatic tool dispenser that functions as a consignment warehouse.
KROMI is the pioneer worldwide in the optimisation of tool availability and tool deployment. The company has extensive sector competence as a result of its decades of experience and its numerous supply contracts with medium and large machining companies.
KROMI specialises in metal machining. The aim is to organise the entire purchasing chain for our customers' cutting tools at optimum cost. We have therefore developed systems and mechanisms to drastically reduce the stock list without prejudicing the work results. To this end we also supply high-performance hardware and software solutions so that ordering processes can be optimally configured while taking into account budget requirements.
KROMI operates independently of tool manufacturers and combines data management, efficient machining and logistics processes and optimised tool procurement to create a unique competitive advantage for its customers.
KROMI offers its customers optimally customised tool management solutions with extensive services in its four fields of competence TOOLS, TECHNOLOGY, LOGISTICS and DATA. These enable the on-time supply of tools at optimal cost for the full spectrum of manufacturing concepts ranging from highly differentiated individual fabrication to consumption-intensive series production.
Based on the principle of a vendor-managed inventory, our KROMI Tool Center (KTC) offers compact consignment warehouses directly at the site of the machines. This not only effectively eliminates the problem of missing tools, but also reduces storage and inventory costs for the customer to an absolute minimum.
With the proven KROMI KTC-HX spiral cabinet, the new KTC-KS carousel cabinet, the KTC-ES electronic drawer cabinet, flexible control panel solutions and the reliable KROMI Kanban system, consignment stores can be specifically configured in line with individual requirements.
Data exchange in the DIN/ISO 4000 format has meanwhile established itself as the basis for Industry 4.0 applications in machining. With the KROMI tool pass, customers receive the complete tool data in this format too, so that they can use a consistent data base for all work preparation processes such as NC programme creation, machining simulation and tool-setting. Networked IT-based tool management and controlling systems enable the end-to-end digitalisation of tool management.
KROMI is constantly informed about tool inventories at the various machines via the online link of the automatic tool dispensers. Through forward planning, ongoing withdrawals can usually be replenished within the agreed delivery cycles. When required, KROMI dispatchers ensure an uninterrupted tool supply around the clock.
With four company locations in Germany and four foreign subsidiaries, KROMI conducts business with customers in a total of twelve countries across Europe and the rest of the world. In addition, numerous offices situated in the places where our customers operate ensure a quick response to their needs.
